# Terms of Service

Welcome to the Competency Learning Kit (CLK). By using CLK, you agree to these Terms of Service.

## 1. As-Is Software
CLK is provided as free, open-source software. The software is provided **"AS IS"**, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the software will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.

## 2. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the authors, maintainers, or copyright holders of CLK be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software. This includes, but is not limited to, data loss, data corruption, or unintended data exposure.

## 3. Google Account and Third-Party Services
CLK operates entirely in your web browser and stores your data directly in your Google Drive. 
- **Account Security:** You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and appropriately managing the sharing permissions of your CLK Google Drive folders.
- **Google Terms:** Because CLK integrates with Google services to function, your use of CLK is inherently subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We assume no responsibility or liability for Google's services, uptime, availability, or data policies.

## 4. Institutional Compliance
If you use CLK in an educational, enterprise, or institutional setting, you are entirely responsible for ensuring that your use of the software complies with all applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding data privacy (such as FERPA, COPPA, GDPR, etc.). Because CLK does not transmit your data to our servers at any time, you retain full control over, and responsibility for, your own data governance.

## 5. Changes to these Terms
We reserve the right to update these terms as the project matures and evolves. Continued use of CLK after any changes implies acceptance of the revised terms.
